Books I read in 2015

Goodreads helps me keep track of books I have read and a place to write a review if I am so moved.  It also gives me a list of the books I have read in a given year.

Thought I had read 60 books but found a duplicate, so only 59.  I am 70% through Ann Applebaum's "Gulag: a history" but simply could not finish it in time to make the even number.  It is 1100 pages and tough reading, believe me.  Not as bad as Solzhenitsyn which I could not get past 3rd chapter but still.

  1. I didn't read any of those. But I might in 2016.

    1. Thanks for dropping by. I notice on your blog you read fiction. If you like fast and furious spy stories, I recommend Diane Henders' books. They are fun to read. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them as Le Carre is more my type.

  2. I like to read westerns where the good guys beat the shit out of the bad guys.

    1. Me, too, BBC. I love Westerns. When my brain is worn out and I need entertainment, I read westerns. Dorothy Johnson, Ernest Haycox and Louis L'Amour are my favourite authors. I just discovered Elmore Leonard.

  3. I've read a few of those, but not in the past year. I'm not a big fan of thrillers or spy stories; I'm more the classic murder mystery type. I am signed up with Goodreads, too, but tend to forget to use it. I just checked and it shows me as having read a grand total of 10 books in the past 3 years, which isn't exactly an accurate reflection of reality. I keep track of what I've read with a spreadsheet in Google Documents. I should do more with Goodreads. If nothing else, I could cross post the occasional reviews I do on my blog.

    1. I do not read much fiction. Le Carre and westerns, mainly. Diane Henders' books are fun to read and can be killed one per day, with no brain strain. Most of my books would not fall into the easy reading category. Would love to know which you have read.

    2. I read a lot, but I think you have got me beat. If I spent less time on the computer my reading list would sky rocket.

    1. That is 10 books per week. Awesome speed. Which 5 books of James Lee Burke would you suggest I start with?

  5. Thanks for the mentions! :-) I tried to keep my Goodreads book list updated but stalled out from too many books and too little time. I'm seriously considering deleting the whole thing since it's just one more 'pending task' to feel guilty about neglecting.
